Increasing traffic is the golden ticket. We all want to login one day and see a spike in visits- but how can you make this a reality? The key is to be consistent, individual and above all aware of what your audience wants. If you can successfully master these 3 traits you’re there.
I know many of you are looking for tips that are as simple to implement as possible, so you can work your blogging around your career, school and busy lives. Here are 4 simple yet effective tips to help you boost traffic without having to spend hours staring at your laptop!
Think Carefully About Your Blog Titles
Titles and headlines have always mattered. The title of your blog post is your chance to advertise what your post is about. It needs to be relevant and catchy- but stay away from titles that overtly look like they’re selling your content. The perfect blog title should be short, concise, and descriptive, leaving the reader wanting more!
Keep an Eye on Topical News, Relevant to Your Blog
Jumping on a relevant piece of news can be a great way to spike your visits! Set up Google alerts and spend 15 minutes a day looking over news sites and social media to see if anything exciting and relevant has happened in your field. If you’re able to be one of the first to post on a topic you could see uplift in traffic. However- this is not a permanent solution! Relying on this alone may see your traffic spike from time to time, but to hold on to readers you need to pair this kind of content with a more consistent strategy.
Structure Your Social Media Output
In order to promote a post as best you can, structure and plan your social media output. Be organised, and find out when the best time to post is. There are so many apps and sites that can help you do this (if you need any recommendations just email me!). Find out when there are twitter chats relevant to your piece, and let any other bloggers who might be interested in sharing your post know it’s live.
Collaborate with Others in Your Blogging Community
When I ask people what their favourite thing about blogging is, time and time again they say it’s the community. Building a really strong foundation of bloggers you can collaborate with is not only one of the best parts of blogging- it can work absolute wonders for traffic growth and following! Work together with your community, share each other’s posts, interview other bloggers, and collaborate on content. Everyone’s a winner!

Great list! Keeping on top of current affairs and blogging about them if relevant to your message is not only great for those spikes in traffic but also shows customers and followers that you are current and up-to-date with what’s going on in the world rather than just having a bank of generic content that you recycle each month.
Keep up the great work
I’m a new beauty blogger and these tips are really helpful. I failed to realize that Google Alerts will really help – not only to gaining traffic – but for keeping myself in the loop. It’s nice not to be behind the products every one happens to be talking about.
