Everyone in this industry knows how often it changes. With the constant changes in Google guidelines, new technology as well as a steady stream of new bloggers constantly joining us it’s vital to stay on top of your game. Here are a few predictions from us on how blogging will evolve in the coming year- we’d love to hear yours in the comments below too!
Your Content Will be More Important than Ever
There are indications that 2015 will be the year that Google uses great content as the most important for where sites will rank. It’s quite hard to predict how this will manifest itself exactly, and it’s perhaps naive to think that links will have no impact whatsoever; but one thing that’s certain is that if you are consistently creating great content then it’ll certainly help.
Competition Will Get Tougher
We could pretty much use this as a prediction every year, and it would always be true. There are so many inspiring bloggers out there, no wonder many of their readers start blogging themselves. However this does mean that more and more completion is pouring into an already crowded industry. Don’t let this phase you though, because more competition in 2015 may well be matched with more opportunities……
More and More Brands Will Begin Collaborating with Bloggers
When I started working with bloggers and brands, there were many brands that took some real persuading to see the benefits of building relationships with great bloggers. Not anymore. The past 6 months especially has seen a whole host of new brands, large and small, start to acknowledge bloggers as a huge opportunity to draw in business. Granted there are a few brands who have always understood this, but 2015 is the year that working with bloggers will become almost compulsory for brands.
Bloggers Will Need to Branch Out in Order to Make a Living
I’ve seen lots of talk about this around the internet, and I totally agree with much of what I’ve read. Making money from blogging used to be (in principle) a fairly simple process. Of course only a few managed to make a living, but those bloggers who started their blogs 5-6 years ago can happily collaborate with brands on incredible sponsored posts and be comfortable. For bloggers coming into the industry this year that won’t be enough, and people will definitely have to start branching out to try and make a living. Whether it’s using affiliates, using your blog as a portfolio and writing freelance or even writing your own e-book; 2015 is the year to start researching ways to make money outside of advertising and sponsored posts. We have a guide on how to make money from your blog so be sure to have a read.

Loving these predictions! It does appear that a lot of blog readers are becoming bloggers and the scene is crowded but chin up x
Great tips! It’s reassuring to know that brands will want to work with bloggers. I think most things are hard now regarding getting work/money, so this doesn’t really surprise me.
Thanks for sharing your blogging predictions for 2015!

Yes, agreed! And when you talk about the necessity of branching out, I think that includes sharing your content across more platforms. More collaborations. More guest posts. Meatier Instagram posts. Videos. It can be so overwhelming. So I guess my goal is to create superb content and then fracture it up and spread it all over the place in different ways. ARGHH! Back to work!
