For many bloggers the ultimate goal is brand collaboration (something we might be able to help out with if you fill in the form in our sidebar!). Whether it’s a job with one of your favourite brands, collaboration or simply a giveaway brands are more often than not more than willing to work with bloggers too. However- there is a lot on competition out there, to attract the best and the biggest brands you’ll need to work hard and follow these simple guidelines:
- Relevance of Following
This is an obvious one- and can be frustrating for some. However brands will look for a following that is going to be relevant to their product. For example, a beauty brand will want a relevant following who are interested in beauty and love finding new products. You can show brands you have a relevant following in two key ways-
- Through your social following
- Through interaction on your site- (comments etc)
If it looks like you have plenty of beauty enthusiasts following you, brands will take this as a sign that you are influential in their field and worth working with. Similarly if you are interacting with relevant bloggers through comments it shows you have influence in your field- another great bonus for brands.
- Blogger Interaction
Whatever the genre, all brands love to work with bloggers who are actively part of the blogging community. It’s so important to build relationships with other bloggers relevant to your genre as this interaction will be a signifier that you are influential, and that you are part of a community they are eager to be part of. Take part in guest posts, interview your fellow bloggers and instigate conversations on social media. The more you interact, the more valuable you are to brands.
- The Look and Feel of Your Blog
Brands will be keen to work with bloggers that have a slightly professional feel to their sites- obviously this doesn’t necessarily mean formal, just polished. Have a look at the most successful bloggers in your genre and write a list of what features they have on their blog. If you find most bloggers have a great theme, it might be worth splashing out and paying for a better one yourself. Fonts are also very important and can completely change the feel of your blog. Again all you need to do is take a look at a few of your favourite blogs for inspiration!
- The Quality and Tone of your Content
Making sure you have great content is a no-brainer- it’ll be hard for you to get anywhere without top quality posts. But when it comes to brands it won’t just be about quality- it’ll come down to the tone you use.
If you have quite a casual tone, think about the brands that this will align you with. Although brands often love blogs with plenty of personality, it’s important to make sure it’s clear you can give a great in-depth review. As long as the quality is good, the tone is down to you.
So there you are, just a few simple pointers to use as a guideline when building up to working with brands! If you have any questions or would like to be featured on The Blogger’s Lounge just email for more information.
Great tips! I’m still new as a blogger but I do love building friendships with people with the same interests! I think it’s great when at certain upcoming events you have people to go with or you can all get excited about a certain product coming out
