An Interview with Abbie Tanner, Editor of ‘Kittens In Top Hats’!

abbie

Tell us about your blog…..how long has it been going and what’s the main focus of your posts?

Hello! I’m Abbie and I blog at kittensintophats.blogspot.co.uk. I tend to blog a few times a week about make up, beauty, nail art, fashion and all the things in my life in between. I Technically started my blog in July 2012 but couldn’t come up with the right name for it or the right introduction post. Then in September 2012 I came up with my then name pride and pedicure and wrote my first post. I mainly blog about beauty and make up with a few fashion and lifestyle posts thrown into the mix!

Quite an unusual name….how did you come up with it?! Is there a story behind it?

Haha thank you! Well I love cats and smartly dressed ones are always a winner! I had several name changes with my blog I couldn’t think of the right one or one that suited both my blog and myself. I started off with Pride and Pedicure which I stayed with for about 10 months or so. I never posted about pedicures and wanted something that would sum up my blog a bit more. So I thought up The Budget Buyer.. A few months later I felt this still wasn’t very me and then Kittens in Top Hats came to me. I know it doesn’t really sum up what I blog about (sorry if anyone expected to see some mighty fine looking kittens!!) but I hope it sums up me and my personality!

What made you want to start blogging, and were there any particular bloggers that you were really inspired by before you started?

I started blogging off the advice of one of my old teachers at sixth form. I was very interested in journalism and writing and they said the best way to get your work out there is to start a blog so you can find the writing style you like, what you enjoy writing about and also so others can see your stuff too! Before I started I would read both Sprinkle of Glitter’s and Zoella’s blogs and I was also an avid watcher of their youtube channels! I really love Zoella’s fashion sense and would always look at the stuff she wears too and try and find similar on the high street.

Where would you like to see your blog in a year from now?

I hope that I’ll be posting a lot more regularly by then as sometimes I post several times a day to nothing over a few weeks. I hope that as I grow as a person over the next year it’ll be reflected through my blog too.

What do you think are the biggest challenges bloggers face?

I’d say finding the time to blog can be quite tricky. I have a job and blogged whilst I was at sixth form doing a levels so I know how hard it can be to fit everything in. Another challenge I think bloggers face is comparing themselves to bigger bloggers. As long as your blog is making you happy that’s all that really matters :)

And finally, who are your all time favourite bloggers?

Ooh ok wow there are so many to choose from! I love Sprinkle of Glitter, Zoella, Fleur De Force and and Lily Pebbles. I also love Lizzie at http://head-full-of-flowers.blogspot.co.uk/ x
