We are big fans of the trusty hashtag on the Bloggers’ Lounge. Yes, they are routinely ridiculed, but deep down, we all know that they are how we bloggers search, find, and promote online. Let me explain hashtags to all you social media dunces out there: hashtags were created so that lovely people such as yourselves can search through the huge volumes of twitter conversation more easily. The assigned hashtag signifies a specific social media conversation or trend, so you can see what everyone is talking about in the area that interests you. It also means that as a blogger, you can create content for your blog or social media channels around a certain hashtag which is designed for specific conversations. A great way of attracting new followers, as well as finding like-minded people! Here are my top picks you should be using for each day of the week:
#ManCrushMonday or #mcm – it’s time to confess!
#MeowMonday – not to be underestimated. Cat pictures encouraged
#MotivationMonday – perfect for any blog genre.
#TravelTuesday – travel bloggers: this one is for you!
#TuesdayTip – great if you have any blogging tips to share!
#TransformationTuesday – for those diet/lifestyle/makeover selfies and blog posts
#WeddingWednesday – this one is for all you wedding bloggers and brides to be!
#WednesdayWisdom or #WisdomWednesday – time for a quotation!
#HumpDay – Wednesday is the middle of the week. Get through Wednesday, and you’ve got through that ‘hump’!
#ThrowbackThursday or #tbt- used forposting old selfies, reminiscing about last summer, or showing how far you’ve come. Thursday is all about the throwback!
#FollowFriday or #FF – give a shout out to your favourite new blogs, or the tweeters you love
#FridayReads – for all you blogging bookworms. It’s nice to share some literary inspiration!
#SaturdaySwag – perfect for all you beauty, fashion, and lifestyle bloggers for posting pics of your latest shopping haul!
#Caturday – one hashtag I think everyone should get on board with. It is widely acknowledged that all bloggers love cats. If the answer is no, I must assume you are in denial, or just haven’t been on the internet long enough.
#SaturdayNight – what are you up to? Cocktails and dancing? Open air cinema? Get posting!
#SilentSunday – widely used by mummy bloggers. The point is to get off social, and only post once using this hashtag
#SelfieSunday – take a selfie. Post the selfie!
#SundayFunday – it’s the last day of the weekend, and back to the daily grind tomorrow. Maybe write a blog post about the things you got up to as well!
These are only a cross-section of the hashtags you could possible use. One Direction fans usually come up with a very long and emotional hashtag every day of the week. Also, using #BeyonceIsQueen is probably appropriate for most occasions. Remember, #StayStrong, and keep posting!
