An interview with Elle Young, editor-in-chief of ‘The Elle Word’

Tell us about your blog…..how long has it been going and what’s the main focus of your posts?
The Elle Word only started in November but it’s basically a place for me to ramble about clothes and beauty to stop my poor boyfriend from having to listen to me!

I kept a list of beauty products and shops that I loved on the notes on my iphone, so I thought ‘why not turn that into a blog instead?’

I focus mainly on clothes, trends, wishlists and beauty product reviews, which includes skincare, hair and makeup! I like to make it as humorous as possible and hope people get at least a teeny giggle out of it!

What made you want to start blogging, and were there any particular bloggers that you were really inspired by before you started?

I’ve always loved writing, ever since I was really little so blogging was the easiest way to do it! I started a music blog at university while I was studying Music Journalism, but my beauty blog really started as a way for me to keep track of what products I liked and disliked as I have a terrible memory!

I always loved checking up on Courtney’s blog The Style Playlist as she always had the best choice in shoes!

Where would you like to see your blog in a year from now?

Oooh tough question! I guess I’d like what any blogger wants and I just want more people to enjoy reading my posts and hopefully I can help them choose the perfect products and spend their money wisely! At the moment, I purely do my blog for fun, so earning money from it would also be ideal as I can really do what I love as a living then!

What is it that you’ve found hardest about blogging?!

I think maybe sometimes I feel the need to spend a lot of money to constantly have new things to blog about. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE shopping, but sometimes I go way over my budget to find something new to review. More self-restraint is needed!

And finally, who are your all time favourite bloggers?

As previously mentioned, I love Courtney from The Style Playlist. Also, Amy Bell from The Little Magpie has the best style/hair. I’ve just recently found Jennifer Grace from Native Fox as well. She always looks incredible no matter what she wears! For beauty bloggers I love Lauren Curtis’ YouTube channel as she has the best makeup tips.
