An Interview with Cat, Editor of ‘Lilac Ghosts’!

Lilac_Ghosts

I interviewed Cat, editor of Lilac ghosts! Read on for her views on inspiring bloggers, and the challenges bloggers face.

Tell us about your blog…..how long has it been going and what’s the main focus of your posts?

My blog is pretty much still a baby. I started it in March 2013 and it was purely a side project for my YouTube channel. Eventually I started to really enjoy writing and photographing products and it became my main focus.

Now I love to write about a bit of everything, mainly beauty and fashion posts with a few lifestyle posts thrown in.

What made you want to start blogging, and were there any particular bloggers that you were really inspired by before you started?

I started to write up my reviews that I was doing for YouTube and I suddenly realised how much I’d missed creative writing. I used to love it in school but once you’re not forced to do it anymore you sort of forget how much

you love it. I wasn’t really introduced to many blogs till I really started to get involved in the blogging community, I would get most of my inspiration from magazines rather than online. When I did start reading blogs I started

with people like Fleur De Force and Zoella because I’d watched their videos.

Where would you like to see your blog in a year from now?

I would like to see my writing improving and my followers growing. But I’d also like to collaborate more with other bloggers. I’d love to have a few guest posts and generally have a readership that actually loves my writing.

What do you think are the biggest challenges bloggers face?

It definitely has to be the competition aspect. There are so many blogs out there all about beauty & fashion that it can be really hard to stand out from the crowd. It can also be really challenging to come up with fresh takes on

beauty/fashion blogging. There seems to be unspoken rules and guidelines on how to write about beauty and fashion that we all follow naturally, but it’s always more interesting when we go against the grain.

And finally, who are your all time favourite bloggers?

I absolutely love This Chicks Got Style, her blog really inspires me and it’s so sleek and professional. Another is From Roses; she has to be my favourite beauty blogger.
